Simon Carrington Chamber Singers

The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers, a world-class choral music ensemble led by renowned artistic director Simon Carrington, engages and enriches audiences through concerts, recordings and educational programs.

The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers (SCCS), led by artistic director Simon Carrington, was founded in 2008 by three of Carrington's former students who shared the desire to form an elite professional vocal chamber ensemble under his direction.

SCCS, an ensemble of 24 singers, performs a diverse and challenging repertoire that spans the ages. The group showcases a unique sound that reflects Carrington's musical sensibilities: a clear, bright tone with a measured use of vibrato which allows a clear and expressive delivery of the text. SCCS is made up of top-tier choral singers from across North America. Each year, the singers meet for a week of intensive rehearsals that culminate in public concerts in the Kansas City area.

Carrington, an internationally renowned singer and conductor, is the guiding force behind SCCS. He co-founded and performed with the famed British vocal sextet The King's Singers for 25 years. Following his performance career, Carrington served as the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Kansas, the Director of Choral Activities at the New England Conservatory and Professor of Choral Conducting and Conductor of the Yale Schola Cantorum at Yale University. In his "retirement," Carrington maintains an active calendar of international engagements as an adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor. He is also devoted to helping build a strong and vibrant SCCS.

As SCCS begins its fifth concert season, the group has already grown far beyond the founders' original vision. In addition to public concerts, SCCS is involved in recording projects, educational engagement and seeking fantastic new choral compositions.
